When you stay on your porch or outdoor room, do you find yourself swatting off insects more than simply just enjoying the view? Then swat no more with these environment-friendly natural and homemade bug repellent spray. What’s great about these sprays is that they’re made with items easily found in your home, too!
Sage
Whenever you’re having a grilling party, roast some sage in the periphery of your grill. The scent will drive pesky bugs away from gate-crashing and annoying you and your guests at your party!
Vinegar, Salt and Sugar
No spice needed, combine these three and watch as wasps go straight for the trap. All you need is 6 ounces of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of salt. Use this proportion and adjust accordingly depending on your need.
Cool Mint Listerine
If you’re off to a wonderful summer getaway and for some reason can’t get hold of a bug spray, your mouthwash will do. However, you may need to reapply it more frequently than your regular bug repellent.
Lemon and Vinegar
Eating healthy is great but having to share it with fruit flies is not. So enjoy your fruit without the flies hovering for a taste by re-directing its nosy attention. One option is by using vinegar and a dish detergent. Make a funnel to lead the fruit directly to the concentrate and trap them in the container. Another great-smelling technique is by using lemons. Simply cut a lemon in half and watch these fruit flies get stuck in it.
Epsom salt
If snails and slugs plague your garden plants, some Epsom salt around it will deter these slinky pests away. The pests and critters avoid Epsom because it scratches and irritates their delicate bodies. However, remember you may have to put some again after you’ve watered your plants or when the rains come in.
